Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing XP the Marxman and IceRocks’ album titled, “Nomads”. I had been meaning to review this project last year, but its better late than never! I came across XP’s music last year when I went to a Hip Hop show at Til Two Club where Eto and Al Divino were performing. He was one of the openers and I was impressed by his command of the stage and he had pure bars!!! I was told by an acquaintance that he was dropping a new project. I finally had a chance to truly sit down and soak in every track.

The album consists of 15 tracks and a running time of 49 minutes. You get blessed with amazing features by Big Twins, Supreme Cerebral, Hus KingPin and Roc Marciano to name a few. The production by IceRocks sets the mood and tone of the whole project. Making it a very cohesive project all the tracks flow seamlessly. The project from start to finish is like a movie moving to the next scene effortlessly. You get boombap beats to grimey and soulful! Some of the stand out tracks is the intro track, “Rain Dance“. Also the track, “Birds Eye View” that has a very inspirational feel to it! Here XP raps about his rough life and how he found a way out on his own by hustling hard! There are too many dope tracks on this project to decipher all of them. Just do yourself a favor and peep this amazing project you won’t regret it!

Thank you for reading my album review! Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Adonis’ album titled, “Logan”. Adonis is a rapper from Long Beach. CA. I came across his music while listening to Bubu the Prince’s music. Bubu was featured on a track called “Trabajo” on a project by Adonis last year called Victoria. It was a dope EP did not get a chance to review it. Luckily Adonis has been putting in work and dropped this album at the end of last year. I knew it was going to be dope so I gave it a listen and I was not wrong. Adonis has witty bars for days and a dope delivery!

This album consists of 9 tracks and if you are an X-Men fan like myself you know he named his album after Wolverine aka Logan! The fifth track is titled “Logan” and he pays homage to Wolverine! Very dope track, my favorite off the project! Another stand out track is the last track, “Mutant“! The lyrics are on point, catchy hook and the beat goes crazy! This project consists of soulful and boombap beats!!! Go support real lyrical rap! Don’t sleep on this project!

Thank you for reading my album review! Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Yazi’s album titled, “Twisted Tongue”. Yazi is also part of the collective I am a part of Spooky Gang aka my Spooky Sis! Yazi is a true lyricist and a rapid flow! She has a gift to put words together in unique patterns and rhyme in other worldly pockets! She has found ways to put sentences together that no other rapper could make work. Yazi has found her own niche and lane of rap. If I could name her sub-genre it would be a mix of metaphysical and psychedelic rap! She also spreads positivity in her music!

Her album consists of 12 tracks that includes her well received track “Dry Ice“. Here she raps about wanting to seek knowledge and flexin bars!!! Then another dope track is “Particles and Waves” that was inspired by her DMT trip. Then the track “Parasite” is about the power of our minds and how we tend to be our own enemies, but we have the power to do anything! Then the stand out track and soulful beat is, “Live Well“! Here Yazi sings a bit on the hook. It is a very positive song about hitting rock bottom and picking yourself up! About living life to the fullest through all the craziness of this world! Support local talent and go stream this album you won’t regret it!

Thank you for reading my album review! Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! Artist: Big CAE

Album: Tables Turned

Release Date: August 2, 2019

Buy/Stream album: All streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Big CAE’s album titled, “Tables Turned”. He dropped this project back on August 2019. This album consists of 20 tracks with a mixture of mainstream beats to grimey, 80’s samples and boom bap. Very versatile all around, there is something for everyone who likes different lanes of Hip Hop. You get lyrical tracks, storytelling and love songs! Big CAE brings bars about his past and the street life to what he has achieved and how far he has come along. He is self made and proud!

He raps about his struggles, but still brings the positivity and his passion for his music! He is very proud to rep his city of Oceanside! You also get a Chicano rap vibe which is nostalgic to me since I grew up listening to Lil Rob, MC Magic, NB Ridaz and Mr. Capone-E. He also has a dope feature by Mr. Shadow. One of my favorite tracks is, “On the Grind“. It is a very positive song about making it out through the struggle! Very positive message to just keep going through the dark times. The favorite beat hands down is on the track, “Baby” they sample Alicia Keys You Don’t Know My Name, that beat goes crazy!!! Overall the project is solid! Go support local rap! North County stand up! Oceanside gots a great Hip Hop scene and Big CAE is one of those dope talents representing for his city!

Thank you for reading my album review! Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! NIGHTMARE ON SEDGWICK AVENUE – "LYRICAL HOMAGE TO LEGENDARY BLACK WOMEN – RAPSODY – EVE ALBUM REVIEW"

BY: GABY MORENO

rapsody-eve-one-listen-review

Artist: Rapsody

Album: EVE

Release Date: August 23, 2019

Buy/Stream album: All streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Rapsody’s album titled, “Eve”.  I am a little late on this review. Rapsody created an amazing body of work! She dedicated this album to legends who happen to be dope Black Women that inspired her! I truly love this project it is definitely on my list of Best Albums of 2019! I loved the spoken word at the end of some of the tracks by the talented poet and Author Reyna Biddy! As a songwriter and poet myself I had been thinking of releasing a Spoken Word EP and when I heard this album I fell in love!

The album consists of 16 tracks each titled after legendary Black Woman. Rapsody uses what each woman is known for and raps about her life and how she has a little of all these woman in her! My favorite track of this project is the first track, “Nina“. This track is titled after the amazing singer and civil rights activist Nina Simone which samples her famous song, “Strange Fruit”. Rapsody raps about her perseverance, showing us how she is a product of Nina. Rapsody goes off!! Favorite verse is on this track! Another dope track, “Aaliyah” is an amazing homage song to Aaliyah. Rapsody talks about how she stands out and is okay with who she is. She spits, “I don’t care what you got to say about me no more/ Double dutchin’ when I’m tuckin’ and my back on the ropes/I be chillin’, ain’t got no feelings when I’m ridin’ the slope/Skeezer’s gon’ be skeezers, I’m just dope/I’m here to shake the system up, we gon’ rock the boat/’Cause I’m that somebody that you still need to know!”.

Then you got a more upbeat and trap like beat for the song, “Oprah“. She raps about being successful like Oprah! It is a very dope song with a catchy hook. This is more of a mainstream track, but Rapsody still brings her bars! This features the dope emcee Leikeli47 who also goes in! I honestly love all the tracks. But the other track that I fell in love with last year that happened to be added to this project is, “Sojourner” ft. J Cole. Rapsody has been working on this project for over a year. She did mention since the inception of this album she knew her next project would be dedicated to woman that have impacted her, so it makes sense this track was added. J. Cole kills his feature like always and Rapsody also brings the heat. Definitely a very introspective track!

Rapsody has been killing the game lyrically and always creating dope conceptual albums! Although I didn’t really start following her journey until 2017, I knew she was going to do great things! Specially when she dropped her Grammy Nominated album, “Laila’s Wisdom”, that was an amazing album! She is a great storyteller and just simply put has bars! Her pen game is unmatched! She does not get the appreciation she deserves. I read online someone said she is not underrated she is under-appreciated and I agree! I think other Hip Hop fans are starting to open their eyes and see she is a lyrical beast! Go cop this album I got my copy! Do not sleep on this project!

Thank you for reading my album review! Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads!
