Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Chuuwee’s EP titled, “Nimrod“. I first heard of Chuuwee because of my friend Nomad. He put him on my radar and said he is dope rapper who has great potential and will blow up soon! I listened to a few tracks and knew he was different. His sound is unique and lyricism is not like what I’ve heard before. That put him on the back of my mind. Then in July I had some friends who were opening up for Slum Village at the Music Box and saw that Chuuwee was among the openers. I was pretty hyped to see him perform live! I believe you can tell a lot from a rapper based on their performance skills. You get to see if they can move the crowd, touch people with their music and interact with them on a personal level.

He performed a few tracks I was not familiar with, but he made a supporter out of me that nighy! His word play and lyricism are dope! His energy and the way he captured the crowd was amazing to watch! He definitely has my full attention! I then began following him on IG that same night. I saw a few weeks ago he was dropping this EP “Nimrod” and I knew I had to put it on rotation. I believe the reason for the title of this EP, Nimrod is because that was the name of a biblical mighty hunter who was also a King of Shinar. The reason I believe this is the meaning is because Chuuwee is dropping his next project soon titled, “Nephilim”. For those who don’t know a Nephilim is a being who is half human and half Angel. They were the offspring of fallen angels and female humans. So my belief is that Chuuwee is big on bible symbolism.

The EP is short, it consists of 7 tracks and a running time of 17 minutes. As you already know I have become a fan of short projects. The reason being there is so much music dropping daily it makes it easier to consume a short EP. For me it is dope if I am able to replay it 5 times and take in the message. So I appreciate this project for being short and filled with dope beats and godly lyricism!

The first track on this project is called, “Money In The Safe“. In the hook he raps, “I’m  always on my job but I’ve never been a slave/I bought an iPad so we are on the same page/That’s why I’m going last so we don’t make the same waves/I  used to save hoes with a mask and a cape/I  think I’m Batman, let me pull up in the rave/Let ’em run their mouth, nothing really they can say“.  I love the trap beat and the catchy hook mixed with dark sense of humor. The second track is, “September’s Very Own” where he seems to be paying Drake homage, since we all know Drake coined the phrase October’s Very Own. Chuuwee goes on a rap frenzy about his ambition and showing off his rap bravado!

The third track on the project is “Shadow Solange“, the bass and the overall beat on this track is crazy! He then raps one of my favorite verses off this project, “I’m tired of being dissed by ni**as who ain’t dropped no songs/ I no longer have sympathy if you ain’t on your job/The planet saw me struggling, the spirits threw a lob/You cancel out your blessings on your own, you fucken’ fraud/If she don’t call me back, I turn a princess into a swan!” . He shows off his lyrical wit and uses sense of humor to get his point across. The fifth track is titled, “Cheese>Choose“. This is a track geared more for the ladies and a melodic track! Then the 7th and final track we get is called, “Dio“. In this track he raps, “Life handing me lemons I was sautéing fillets huh//Feet up in my jays, I like to parley in your shade huh/Bar none on my efforts, I go out and i get paid huh/Countdown my ascension I’m so down for my upgrade huh”. That last line is fire! I get a feeling he is hinting at his upcoming project “Nephilim”!

Overall this is a solid project, very cohesive and filled with great bars! Definitely recommending buying it or streaming it! It is worth a listen! Can’t wait to hear his next project, “Nephilim” and see what he concocts next! Thank you for reading my EP Review. Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads!
