Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s highly anticipated collaborative album “Oasis“. I’ve been patiently waiting for this album to drop since it was announced last year. I gotta admit I had high expectations for this album given that it is two of the mega Reggaeton/Latin trap/Latin superstars. Also they always deliver dope music individually and collaborating together to make a project I knew it was gonna be lit! I was not wrong! These two talented musicians created a beautiful body of work! This is more of an EP there are only 8 tracks, but the themes and sound go well together.

The album consists of 31 minute running time which is perfect for this era of having to consume a high volume of music daily! I literally put this album on rotation in my car and at work and played it over like 4 times. Todas las canciones estan duras! In this EP you get a mixture of Reggaeton, ballads, pop y latin trap! Musica Urbana at its finest! The title of the album Oasis is fitting, you get a Caribbean and vacation vibe to it! You can cruise to the beach or bump it at a party or club! You have your party/dancing tracks, your heartbreak/ballad songs and just songs you can bump in your car!

One of the tracks, “Yo Le Llego” has a dope bass and the exotic trap beat is just fire! J Balvin and Bad Bunny both go in! Then you get their hit single, “Que Pretendes” which has a catchy hook, I learned it after hearing it twice lol. It is a song about an ex tryna come back and knowing exactly what to do to try to get back together, but they are smart and not falling into her game this time! Then you get a slowed down ballad track called, “La Cancion” which is one of my favorites! The trumpet adds something else to this track! Also the lyrics are very deep and shows J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s versatility. The song is about hearing that one song when they’ve been drinking that reminds them about that ex they never really got over. They rap how they thought they had forgotten them, but the song still brings back memories. But they are happy their ex is happy with their significant other. You also get an island feel with the song, “Un Peso“. This song is about not caring about an ex who left them for someone else and now they want them back. I really loved that they featured lead singer of Los Enanitos Verdes, Marciano Cantero. His voice is unique and adds a nice touch to the track. The last track I will mention is, “Odio“, which in English translates “Hate”. The track is pretty self explanatory lol. I love this track too! It’s catchy and I love the dark sense of humor. The song is about them hating their ex and wishing they are not happy.

This EP/album is dope! I definitely recommend buying a copy or just streaming it! I always say this, latin trap/ Reggaeton/Musica Urbana is so similar to the Hip Hop culture it is Spanish rap with other elements and that is why I love this genre so much as well! So if you like Hip Hop and love some feel good music then give this EP a listen! You don’t even gotta understand the language to enjoy the music!

Thank you for reading my review. Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! While you’re at it follow my blog on social media @7octoberz  on Instagram and Facebook! LATINO GANG!!!
