Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Jesse Reyez new album, “Before Love Came to Kill Us”. We get the return of Jesse’s raspy soulful voice, that is reminiscent of the legendary Amy Winehouse. The albums consists of Spanglish tracks filled with pure emotions. The main theme is heartbreak and love! One of my favorite tracks is “Deaf (who are you)” it’s that spiteful track. Vibe of a woman scorned going off! Then you get “Intruders” with a dope guitar riff. You also get the amazing collabo with 6black, “Imported”. One of my favorite tracks with one of my favorite lines, “Get over them by getting under me”!

The album has a deluxe version that consists of 17 tracks with a running time of 58 minutes. One of the stand out tracks is, “La Memoria” very emotional track in Spanish. She sings some pretty deep shit! For those who don’t understand Spanish she is telling the guy who broke her heart that he needs to find someone like himself and lose in love to know what it feels to be heartbroken. She sings,”Te hace falta enamorarte de una perra/Te hace falta perder una guerra/Te hace falta encontrar una gemela/Que te quiebre el corazón/Que te deje en tu pena”. Really dope project go check it out!

Artist: Ensilence

Album: Ghetto Gorgeous

Release Date: March 8, 2020

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Ensilence’s EP, “Ghetto Gorgeous”. I came across Ensilence on IG thru a mutual follower. There was a video where she was spitting poetic bars and I was pleasantly surprised. Began following her and came across this EP. I had to review it because it definitely deserves to be put on rotation and be heard! If I could describe Ensilence’s delivery and cadence it would be poetic rap! She reminds me of a mix of Jean Grae, Bahamadia and MC Lyte.

This EP consists of 7 tracks with a running time of 14 minutes. It is a dope project to just vibe to and chill! All production on this project is by Tekbeatz. Production is amazing you get a mix of boombap, jazzy and soulful beats. It meshes well with Ensilence’s lyrics. My favorite track is the title track, “Ghetto Gorgeous” it gave me an early 90’s vibe. Ensilence goes in with her smooth lyricism. Then you get, “Chemist Tree” that has a bit of a grimey feel to it. Check out this dope project! Don’t sleep on the goddess who is a dope emcee!

NIGHTMARE ON SEDGWICK AVENUE – “FROM LA TO NY!!! – XP THE MARXMAN – CONTINUA A SPARARE (KEEP FIRING) EP REVIEW”

BY: GABY MORENO

.:HHB All Day:.

Artist: XP The Marxman

Album: Continua A Sparare (Keep Firing)

Release Date: April 20, 2020

Buy/Stream: All streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing XP The Marxman’s new project, “Continua A Sparare (Keep Firing)”. The full project was entirely produced by the New York legend Roc Marciano! XP continues to keep the gas on the pedal with no sign of stopping! One of the hardest working emcees with quality music! Always representing for LA (San Fernando Valley to be exact). I was looking forward to see him kill the stage at the THOP fest earlier this year, but then the whole quarantine happened so we will have to wait! I have seen him perform once in SD and he commands the stage!

This project contains 6 tracks with a running time of 17 minutes. XP has also been dropping visuals consistently as well. He just dropped a video for the main single of this project, “The Have Nots” about a month ago. The music video was directed by the talented emcee I Suppose. The video takes place in an apocalyptic world due to the Rona quarantine as XP raps in a Hazmat suit! Very dope concept! The production on this project is grimey and has that NY sound complimented by XP’s signature raspy voice. All the tracks are dope. One of my favorites is, “Get Paid” as a horror and Wes Craven fan the first line stood out to me, “Wes Craven is safe haven/Ya ain’t never coming close to what we call sacred!” There are other horror references in the other tracks like, “No Idea” he mentions Hannibal Lecter. So horror fans will enjoy this as well. Go check out this project you won’t regret it! Support dope emcees!

Release Date: Feb 6, 2020

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing 60 East’s latest EP, The Freeway Series Vol. 3. 60 East is a dope emcee, founder of THOP fest that takes place twice a year in Ontario, CA. He is doing a lot for the Hip Hop culture and keeping it alive and well in his city! He just dropped this EP at the beginning of the year. The production on this project was done by the talented Curtiss King. The EP consists of 6 tracks with a running time of 16 minutes. It is a perfect soundtrack to listen to on your way to and from work or just to go cruise to!

The first track after the intro, “Tuesday” has a very soulful oldies vibe that I loved! 60 East talks about all his doubters and his struggles trying to make it in the music biz . He rap how all the lessons he learned got him to the top! Also keeping the balance of being a good father and following his dream. Very inspirational track. Another track is, “The Blues” his speaks about the music industry and how it’s not all unicorns and rainbows like they make it out to be. Some artists unable to handle the pressure and give up or commit suicide. Realest track I’ve heard in a minute! My favorite track tho has to be, “Sleep Talk” featuring A-F-R-O who is an amazing emcee. 60 East goes in with his braggadocio bars! Favorite bar: “The head honcho/Pulling up to your condo/It’s a murder taking place like OJ in the Bronco!” All the tracks are dope on this project from top to bottom. Go check it out! Support dope Hip Hop!

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Boxcutta Maxx’s latest EP, “Fedor Vs. Cro Cop”! This is Boxcutta’s 4th project of 2020! The kid is grindin consistently and putting out quality music! He dropped Machismo at the beginning of the year, then Greatness and even a beat tape! Maxx is part of the Spookygang crew and is bringing the heat! This EP is only four tracks long with a running time of approximately 8 minutes. As Maxx said it himself this is not just music it is art! The track “Draco” is something else, the organs in the beginning give it a grim sound! Maxx bring his elegant bars as always! Then the track “Shit Kickin” goes hard! My favorite intro line, “you can lose it all over greed!” This is another solid project, don’t sleep go peep it!

Below is Maxx’s link to his album and new music video!

NIGHTMARE ON SEDGWICK AVENUE – "EVOLUTION OF A WOLF!!! – RUSS – SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE ALBUM REVIEW"

BY: GABY MORENO

Artist: Russ

Album: Shake the Snow Globe

Release Date: January 31, 2020

Buy/Stream: All streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Russ’s album, “Shake the Snow Globe”. This is his third studio album following up his last release Zoo. In this album he seems more acclimated to his fame and more happy than his last. In this album Russ has evolved. He has production from different producers which in the past he normally produced all his beats and minimal features. This projects he has dope features. He has Benny the Butcher which I wouldn’t normally think he would do this type of music. Then you get Rick Ross and Devin the Dude. The album consists of 14 tracks with a running time of 43 minutes. He raps about his life in the rap game and how he has accomplished a lot. He raps what he lives which is rare for rappers these days.

You still get the normal Russ braggadocio and the typical melodic R&B tracks. Definitely his sounds is a bit different. It is most likely because he had different producers this time around. At first it took awhile for the project to grow on me, but now I love it! My favorite tracks are Nighttime, All To You, Guess What, Patience and I Thought You Got Me. I really loved that Russ showed another side to Benny he went in on the track I Thought You Got Me about betrayal by someone you love. He also has a track dedicated his mom which is dope! Then the bonus tracks are the singles Best On Earth ft. Bia and Civil War. Which of course are bangers! Definitely recommend checking out this project.

Thank you for reading my album review! Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! Artist: Scvtterbrvin

Album: Active Psycho

Release Date: May 1, 2020

Buy/Stream: All streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Scvtterbrvin’s album, “Active Psycho”. Scvtterbrvin is originally from San Diego, but I believe he currently resides in NY. This album was inspired by Basketball and Grafitti. This album features really dope production from Spookygang’s OG Milky Wayne to Kheyzine, Gabonano, al.divino and Scvtterbrvin himself. This project is a lyrical masterpiece with that grimey boom bap sound we all Hip Hop heads love! The first track, “Isolationism” grabs you instantly the piano on the track is crazy! Kheyzine killed it on the production!

Scvtter’s delivery is deadly it bashes your skull! Every chance he gets he reps his city of San Diego! The album consists of 10 tracks with an approximate running time of 20 minutes. Scvtterbrvin has mastered his craft and this project is proof! He paints a picture with his lyrics like Michelangelo! The entire project is dope with hard hitting beats and ill lyricism! I love my city, we got pure talent! Go support local talent and real Hip Hop! Link below to cop the project since this will only have a digital release via bandcamp.
