Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewed supergroup Czarface (7L, Esoteric & Inspectah Deck) and Ghostface Killah album titled, “Czarface Meets Ghostface“. This is Czarface’s sixth project. In this project they continue the saga as the villain. This time around Ghostface Killah is the hero aka Iron Man! The production and music is all composed by The Czar-Keys (7L and Spada4). The intro track starts off as a boxing match of sorts. Introducing the heavyweight champion villain Czarface who will be facing off with Ghostface aka Tony Stark!

In the first track “Face Off” Ghostface starts off and spits that lyrical flow with ease that we recognize! But I gotta admit Esoteric went in on his verse! We then move on to the second track, which was their official single, “Iron Claw”. The production and beat goes hard! The next track “Czarrcade ’87” features only Inspectah and Esoteric. They vibe off each other and go back and forth. Using their braggadocio rhymes to say they are powerful and no one can defeat them musically nor physically.

RVLoD4b1_400x400.jpg
The sound of this project has that action superhero movie vibe. Even though all 3 emcees are top tier lyricists the project was lacking something. There were only a few tracks that stood out to me and that I will come back to. I still enjoyed that they continued this project with the hip hop and comic book theme. The beats just seemed to sound the same after awhile, with the exception of the track “Iron Claw”. This made the production seem repetitive and bland. The lyricism was on point, maybe 2 or so tracks lacked in that arena, “Powers and Stuff” and “Listen to the Color”.

It is a decent project for those who love the Czarface album series. You will not be disappointed since it is consistent to their previous albums. I would just suggest more variety in the production next time around. Also more lyrics that display the villains (Inspectah and Esoteric) verbally fighting the superhero (who ever is the next featured artist). To end on a positive note the album art is dope as always!

Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue – “New York Throwback – Sav Killz – Bangers and B-Sides 2 Album Review”

BY: GABY MORENO

Artist: Sav Killz (Featuring: Planet Asia, Killer Ben, Johnny Flatbush, Skanks, Frank Knight)

Album: Bangers and B-Sides 2 Album Version

Rating: 4/5 (based on replay value, content, cohesiveness, lyricism, beats, production, and cadence)

Release Date: March 21, 2018

Purchase album: Bandcamp

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

In honor of Throwback Thursday today I will be reviewing Sav Killz’s album, “Bangers and B-Sides 2”! Sav Killz aka Jamel Hampton is an emcee that hails from New York, Brooklyn (Bedstuy) to be exact. He was born and raised in Flatbush! He started off as a graffiti writer and started rapping at an early age. His monicker used to be Savage Killa then he shortened it to Sav Killz. He released his first project “Determination Through Time” in 2006. He is well known in the New York Underground Hip Hop scene. He was part of the Wu-Tang Clan cypher and connected to Popa Wu.

I just got introduced to his music recently. He was actually humble enough to message me on social media and share his music. He found me through UGHH and saw that I had a real love for Hip Hop. I gave his music a listen and viewed an interview on YouTube. He was interviewed by Peter Rosenberg from Hot 97 back in 2015! Glad he reached out if not I would still be sleeping on his dope music!

The album version of his mixtape I will be reviewing today consists of 13 tracks. The first track “Super Superb” has a soulful boom bap melody. In this track he is making it known he is a lyrical emcee who is better than the other rappers who are just repetitive and have no substance. He spits that he is making music that is timeless and that people can quote! Definitely a great way to start the album.

There are various themes he touches on throughout the project from the drug game, being a dope emcee to being fearless and following your dreams. For instance in the track called “Falling Victim” he is telling a story about a hustla in the drug game who was making money and became addicted to his own product. It is an anti drug anthem! Sav ends the song with saying he has seen people who have become addicted to controlled substances and tells us to stay away from the drug life.

Another standout track is “Fearless”, he starts of telling a story about a dude who was an epic rhymer and invested in honing his craft, but who also had the fear of fading into obscurity.  In the second verse Sav talks about his dedication to his craft. Also that it upsets him that some of his peers are making wack music that affects his favorite genre “Hip Hop”. He spits that he has nothing to lose, but something to prove! The overall message is to just be fearless, make music you love, respect real lyricism and make music that has meaning!

Sav’s rhymes flow effortlessly like he was born to do this!  I enjoyed the lyricism, word play and storytelling.  Also the features were dope it wasn’t overdone, he still shined on his own project! If you do not know who he is do yourself a favor and check out his music! Show support by streaming or purchasing his music! Anything to support a true lyricist like him! You can feel and see he has a true love for rap and the Hip Hop culture!

Thank you for reading my review. Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads! While you’re at it follow my blog on social media @7octoberz and Facebook!

Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue – “Feel Good RnB – Kehlani – While We Wait EP Review”

By: GABY MORENO

Kehlani_WhileWeWait

Artist: Kehlani (Featuring: Musiq Soulchild, Dom Kennedy, Ty Dolla $ign and 6lack)

Album: While We Wait EP (Mixtape)

Rating: 4/5 (based on replay value, content, cohesiveness, vocals, production, and cadence)

Release Date: February 21, 2019

Streaming/Purchase album: All streaming platforms and iTunes, Amazon, Google play etc.

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Kehlani’s EP, “While We Wait”. This mixtape was released to hold us off while we wait for Kehlani to drop her anticipated sophomore album! She is one of my favorite R&B acts of this generation.

For those who are not familiar with Kehlani she is an R&B singer from Oakland. She has an angelic soft spoken voice. Since the first time I heard her she gave me this 90s R&B vibe. She is a mix of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez, Aaliyah and Janet Jackson. You can tell they highly influence her music as well. When she is sporting her tomboyish style it reminds me of that TLC and Aaliyah R&B era.

I have been following Kehlani’s journey since her “Cloud 19” and “You Should Be Here” mixtape days. I still remember being hype when she announced she was working on a track for the movie, “Suicide Squad” that was an anticipated film due to Jared Leto taking on the role as the Joker and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn (my favorite female comic book villain). This song as we know was one of Kehlani’s major hits, “Gangsta”. Then she dropped her debut album “SweetSexySavage” which was one of my favorite R&B albums of 2017!

I have seen her evolve as a singer and artist and attract a larger fan base, which is amazing to witness! I had the opportunity to see her perform at the BET Experience in 2016 when she opened for Usher. She is a great performer who can dance and sing!

20160624_202842.jpg
Kehlani BET Experience 2016 – LA Staples Center

In this short EP we are blessed with 9 tracks. Kehlani must have a love for alliteration. I noticed her debut album started with all S’s and this EP starts with all W’s not sure why, but I’m diggin it! I wonder what she is going to title her 2nd album? Moving back to the topic of this mixtape one of the tracks off of this project is the single I have been vibin to called, “Nights Like This” featuring the talented Ty Dolla Sign. She also has a track with Musiq Soulchild called, “Footsteps” that references a lyric from Omarion’s Ice Box verbatim. The production on that song gave me a Timbaland/Aaliyah vibe. Another song that stood out to me is “Morning Glory”, she has a verse where she sort of raps and it sounds like she is paying homage to Lisa “Left Eye” Lopez. Definitely one of my favorite tracks off this project.

Kehlani is very open about her personal life, her journey and her past struggles with depression. Kehlani has now entered a new chapter of her life where she is expecting her first child. I know this is going to inspire her writing process! In this project she shares with us her past experiences with being heartbroken, relationship issues and love! I am a fan of Kehlani’s songwriting abilities. Her lyrics are heartfelt and emotional.

Kehlani is known for making you feel a type of way with her lyrics. This project demonstrates she still has her creativity to share with the world. Her lyrics about heartbreak and love are so relatable. Her hooks are so catchy too! This EP is short and sweet and definitely gives us something to hold onto while we wait for her actual album. I am excited to see what she will bring to the table this time around. I have confidence she will release another great R&B project! R&B is alive and well and honestly the ladies are dominating that genre right now!

Favorite Tracks/Verses:

1. Too Deep:

“Too many steps, too many levels

Too many laps, too many hurdles

You don’t wanna get hurt by me

I don’t wanna be a crutch for ya

Too insane, too irritated

Too insufficient, too inconsistent

You just wanna talk, I don’t wanna listen

Now I wanna talk, you don’t wanna listen

I don’t ever wanna lose you again

You don’t ever wanna see me again

Say that I’m done, leave you alone”

2. Nunya ft. Dom Kennedy:

“Why you askin’ ’bout X, Y, Z?

Why you worried ’bout who was fuckin’ me?

Who’s to the right in my SUV?

It’s none of your, none of your, none of your bees

Callin’ my girls to check where I been

If you needed to know, I’d drop a pin

Keepin’ to yourself really ain’t a sin

But you can’t, you can’t let me live”

3. Morning Glory:

“Tell me, why should I be trippin’ on you

While I could be payin’ dues?

I’m a fountain of youth, raised on Arie and Badu

I know I’m fine, don’t need a outer confirmation from a man

Who uses 2-in-1 and thinks he’s a sensation

Don’t need acrylics on the clock to hit the nail on the head

Don’t need my inches down my back to throw it back in the bed

So, when you speak on me and say that “She ain’t put together”

Don’t forget to mention that I got my shit together”

4. Nights Like This:

“On some nights like this, shawty, I can’t help but think of us

I’ve been reminiscin’, sippin’, missin’ ya

Can you tell me what’s with all this distant love?

If I called, would you pick it up?

On some nights like this, I just wanna text you, but for what?

You gon’ say you want me, then go switch it up

Just gon’ play with my emotions just because, no (Oh)

All them times I played the fool for you

Thinkin’ we could put it back together, thought we had forever

You never see my point of view

Our connection is so severed, you don’t show no effort”

5. Butterfly:

“You speak in dictionaries while fearing less than all will understand

Virgo moon, I’m so used to your dance

Tongue too swole to comprehend

I see you duck and dodge at every bend

Afraid to play your card, be forced to show your hand

I hope you take from this that it’ll make you no less of a man

To break your walls and simply grab my hand

Love shouldn’t be contraband

It shouldn’t trample on your confidence

Shouldn’t be seen as less than compliments”

Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue – “Razor Sharp Rhymes – Smalls Uno – Beast Mode Album Review”

By: GABY MORENO

Artist: Smalls Uno (Featuring: Sick Rick, Demon Loc, Mastermind Guile, Nemy, Speak Easy, Twomps)

Album: Beast Mode

Rating: 4.5/5 (based on replay value, content, cohesiveness, lyricism, beats, production, and cadence)

Release Date: February 24, 2019

Buy/Purchase album: Spotify, iTunes, CDbaby, YouTube, Tidal

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Smalls Uno aka King Small Uno’s album, “Beast Mode”. Smalls Uno is an emcee from San Diego! His brother Sick Rick introduced him to rap from what I read and they been working together on music ever since. Smalls Uno is under M.Mind Recording Label who is owned by his friend Mastermind Guile aka Caesar Zepeda. Do your research on how Mastermind and Smalls Uno reconnected and began killing the game with their music!

Brief backstory as to how I came across Smalls Uno and this project. I was on social media. Man the power of social media is crazy, in a good way in this scenario! lol He followed me on my IG blog page, so I followed back and checked out his page. I sent him a DM thanking him for the follow and asking him when his new album will be available for streaming. He sent me the link to Spotify. I briefly listened to a few tracks and I was blown away!

It was dope to hear that sort of grimey lyrical rap. I didn’t really know there were any rappers like that in San Diego! At least that I had heard of. It was dope to hear a different type of sound and horror influenced lyricism. The features on this project killed their verses as well!

I definitely will have this project on rotation through out the year! The lyrics are witty. The songs contain dark humor, crazy wordplay and just bars!!! Definitely a grimey project! I loved the gritty production it gave the album a suspenseful and terrorizing vibe. The beats are bangers, you just want to bump each song while you cruise through San Diego!

50623737_2200616923536920_5325660201879702720_n.jpg

The album has a NY grittiness sound/vibe. The vibe of this album was reminiscent of Big L, Mobb Deep, Geto Boyz, Gravediggaz and Psycho Realm combined all in one! I don’t like comparing artists, but Smalls Uno and the rest of the features remind me of the Griselda crew: Benny Butcher, Conway and Westside Gunn. It’s that pure raw dark lyricism that you rarely hear anymore! Being a horror fan I enjoyed the devilish lyrics and metaphors!

The album is short only 8 tracks about half hour running time. Wish it had been longer, maybe 2 more tracks? I definitely will be watching the game to see what Smalls Uno bodies next! Also the cover artwork is dope! #oouchy #beastmode #lyricalmurders #lyricalmaniacs #horrocore #horrorrap #darkrap #grimeyrap #grittyrap #sandiegorap #sandiegohiphop

Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue – “A Lyrical Odyssey – Yugen Blakrok – Anima Mysterium”

By: GABY MORENO

Artist: Yugen Blakrok (Featuring: Historian Himself, Fifi The Raiblaster, Bravestarr, Kool Keith, Zetina Mosia and Jak Tripper)

Album: Anima Mysterium

Rating: 5/5 (based on replay value, content, cohesiveness, lyricism, beats, production, and cadence)

Release Date: February 1, 2019

Buy/Purchase album: All music/streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing Yugen Blakrok’s album, “Anima Mysterium“. Yugen is a female emcee from South Africa, Johannesburg to be exact. I first came across her when listening to Von Poe VII aka Poetic Death for those who followed him in his early days like I did. She was featured on the track “Road to Kemet” from Von Poe’s album, “Forever Villainous”. Her lyrical performance stole the show on that track. I was captivated by her raw lyricism. There are only a few female emcees that I can say fit in that lyrical category (Jean Grae, Bahamadia, Rapsody, Lady of Rage). As a female lyricist myself hearing Yugen spit bars inspired me!

In the era where we are once again seeing female rappers in the limelight, Yugen Blakrok is a breath of fresh air. She doesn’t have to show sex appeal to sell records/streams. She is a natural lyrical storyteller. She handles the mic effortlessly. She is one of the few current female rappers that still shows love for the culture. There are other female emcees doing their thing, but I will save their mentions for another time.

I almost forgot to mention she was also featured in one of my favorite soundtracks of 2018 Black Panther soundtrack in the track “Opps” with Vince Staples. She has been in the rap game for over a decade now. I might be late on the wave, but I am glad I discovered her music!

2b451a_fbe6361b976747e3a177071e4d573f88_mv2

Where to start, her album”Anima Mysterium” is a lyrical journey. The beats and production have a bit of a boom bap sound, but it’s also a mix of something you would hear in a mystery or horror movie score. The sound throughout the project consists of dark melodies as a horror fan I loved it. It gave the project an eerie and mysterious vibe. For example the track “Monatomic Mushroom” gave me a Deftones’ metal rock vibe.

This album takes you into another realm or maybe its a glimpse into Yugen’s subconscious mind, dreams and nightmares. She creates a dark sort of mythology that coincides with today’s cruel reality of our society. For example the track, “Picture Box” is about media and its impact on us. As I like to say art and music is purely subjective. What I hear can be interpreted differently by another listener. That is what is so beautiful about this project it is a lyrical odyssey!

Yugen in her “House of Ravens” music video

Yugen Blakrok’s cadence and delivery stands out due to her raspy voice. She has this fierce and militant vibe. It is captivating and reels you in! I enjoyed listening to her horror references, crazy metaphors, descriptive storytelling and poetry. She can really paint a picture or in this case cinematic sceneries. She is a lyrical goddess or sorceress like they describe her in her Spotify bio!

artworks-000400250862-lphj62-t500x500

This album is an artistic expression in verbal form! This album consists of 12 tracks. It is not too long nor too short, it is perfect. The features are dope they are not overdone. This is for true hip hop heads who enjoy pure lyricism. If that’s not your thing then your missing out! This is definitely one of my favorite projects this year. I am going to keep it in heavy rotation. I’m sure I am going to find something new every time I listen to it. Too much lyricism to take in!

I highly recommend checking out this album and for those that are still CD collectors or vinyl junkies cop the physical format. The art is amazing! I already ordered mine! Support lyrical Hip Hop! Keep in mind that this is only Yugen’s sophomore album. I can’t wait to hear what she has in store next!

Favorite Tracks/Verses: (Loved every track, but these stood out)

1. Gorgon Madonna:

“Cause true reality runs deeper than the concept

To the spectrum of your consciousness

And pigment’s only context

This race can only be won if the psyche is steady

Even Frankenstein began as a dream, in the mind of Mary Shelley

So throw caution to the wind, focusing the mental element

Make bars crumble down like dilapidated sediments

All those ridden with hell, I’ll blast for the cell first

Splatter the optics, and damage the nerves

Dust or blood over everything, I swing sabers like Anakin

Ambidextrous androgen, I’m both the empress and the king”

2. Obsidian Night:

“Speak to Ares through the pineal gland

My rap style rhymes circles ’round the gods

Seven serpents on the door

Thought becomes word, word becomes bond

Inspire desire in jest, oath with palm over breast

Left hand path, air suspended the last testament”

3. Picture Box:

“They hypnotized by the truth, horrific daily news

Ears ringing from eerie noises, anti-vessels make the loudest

TV hosts invading living rooms like haunted houses

Spewing words without content, spoken out of context

I breathe deep, inhale the sweet perfume of the dead

The ghosts that haunt my spirit hide amidst some petty showers

To purify the self I throw my fears in burning fires

Desperate times call desperate measures, but situations dire

Tower over furnaces unburnt and demons cower”

4. Morbid Abakus:

“Immune to pressures from religious sects

Stay fighting til our own dominant thoughts find a way to manifest

And insulate the mind against lobotomized societies dribbling

The most traitorous, turn on they siblings

Many milling familiars, while the system’s belittling

I honor family bonds like I’m Sicilian, ape shit like simian

I grind elbows deep in the dirt with root fingers

Spinning optics, cloud the mind like mood swingers

I cast spells like spiderwebsUsed to rest my head on temple steps”

5. Monatomic Mushroom:

“My spirit moves like ley-lines

Connects the chosen nations of the great wolf and the lion

So all may see the sign, though it’s hidden in plain sight

Like the protocols of Zion, there’s division in the orders

Luna’s facing Poseidon, and tug-of-war in celestial worlds between the deities

Turning toward duality, focus the third iris

Visions of Neptune reflecting beneath my eyelids”

6. Carbon Form:

“My jargon’s a headache to decipher

Never idle, the heavy burden’s only light work to bright disciples

And I’m sky-bound, messenger like Malachi

Cardinal offspring of Capricorn and Gemini

Born from a sandstorm, whirlwinds in my burning eyes

Slayed a beast with seven tongues, electrifying

So I vibrate in coded synergy, linguistics my Achilles heel

Wade in stellar waters deep, a mystic whistling in the reeds

That cosmic breath, that air element that finds strength in the mental

Make all doubts of the mind inconsequential”

7. Metallik Crow:

“Thoughts sit heavy, lyrically show you what a tongue weighs

Purple circular spots behind my eyes, like I sun-gaze

Attached to mothership like Norman Bates

Twisted necks like circus tricks for you, but the victims never wake

Common daily routines, like a collective’s retracing of steps

Mentally desperate, we tryin’ to connect

And musical notes hide the most cryptic of codes

Truth is a bitter pill, and I’m medicating”

8. Land of Gray:

“Blue bird in the center of my universe

Sing for me, bittersweet symphonies

The void and I are similes

Phoenix of the ashes and the poor girl’s liver broken

Alone but never lonesome

I sleep with third eye open

And dream dreams of battlefields

Where crows feast on carrion

And carry on fully armed

Blakrok, red-blooded barbarian

Dead leaves swirling round my feet like dervishes

I’m Atlas with the globe, chip on my shoulder where the burden is

Cloudy visions, can’t see where light begins and I desist”

&

“Engineered in female form, a silent carrier of the force

I’m a sandstorm and desert user, shadow with a torch

As tombstones whisper my name

I cross graveyards, familiar like spiky words that pierce through heavy hearts”

Nightmare on Sedgwick Avenue – “Ese Flow Puro – NabyBaby – Tiempo Con H Album Review”

By: GABY MORENO

Album: Tiempo con H

Rating: 4/5 (based on replay value, content, cohesiveness, lyricism, beats, production, and cadence)

Release Date: September 2018

Buy/Purchase album: All music/streaming platforms

Hello Hip Hop Heads and Horror Fans,

Today I will be reviewing NabyBaby’s album, “Tiempo Con H”. This review will be in Spanglish lol.

NabyBaby started break dancing at a young age which developed his love for Hip Hop. He also is an avid skateboarder and used graffiti art to express himself. From what I researched, he started rapping/writing in 2006. His rapping career was on and off. But he dropped a dope album last year that I am going to be reviewing today.

I am a little late to the party on checking this album out, but I am glad I did! A brief background of how I came across this talented artist. I have to shout out mi amigo Jose me recomendo escuchar la musica de un rapero llamado NabyBaby. I went on Youtube and watched his music video, “Tiempo Con H aka 34 Kilates”. Con este video quede impresionada! His lyrics are dope, pure lyricism at its best. He is seen break dancing and of course Emceeing in the video.

maxresdefault-1

NabyBaby’s music is a mix of Spanish rap, lyricism, boom bap and banger beats. I can tell he has a true passion and love for the Hip Hop culture! His sound brings me back to that 90s and early 2000s era of Hip Hop.

This album is an ode to Hip Hop and the culture that has influenced him and all of us hip hop heads! Each song he uses his lyrical abilities and literally causing fatalities (como la cancion). His cadence and aggressiveness in how he spits his verses cut you like swords! You can hear his passion in every word. This album perfectly encapsulates Hip Hop’s essence to the core! Even the album cover paints a picture of what Hip Hop is!

NabyBaby is a humble dude. He even says it in his rhymes that he does this for the love of the culture not for the money or the fame. I also had the pleasure of speaking to him briefly on social media. The conversation all started with me being mesmerized by his songs and music videos. I immediately began following him on social media. He messaged me and briefly introduced himself. He was kind enough to share his album with me for free!

When I see lyricists that are dope and on top of that down to earth it is an amazing thing to witness! It proves to me that Hip Hop brings people together! I love musicians/artists that are still grounded it says a lot about their character and longevity in their career. It also demonstrates they care about their core fans and supporters.

I highly recommend this project! The only downside to the project its a bit long with 17 tracks. The only reason I mention that is that in the era of short albums and short attention span that is the only thing that works against this project. I didn’t mind it tho I enjoy long albums as long as they have dope and cohesive content.

To conclude this review go support dope and humble local artists!!!

Favorite Tracks/ Canciones Favoritas: (The whole album is dope only mentioned a few)

1.  Tiempo Con H:

Rest in peace

Solo somos Bboys in the Hood.

Vamos dándole macizo al Microphone, 34 Kilates sonando so Good.”

The Crypt Keeper back when he was a rapper!

It is a great time to be a hip hop and horror fan!!! I can definitely see more hip hop/horror soundtracks and even scores being curated in the near future.  As we already know Hip Hop is the most popular culture. Funny that back in the day they thought it was only a phase. We all know that prediction was wrong!

Now rap is the #1 music genre in the United States. Hip Hop culture is thriving. When I hear people say “hip hop is dead” or “there is no new rap music that is good”.  I become upset because people are just going by hearsay or what they hear on the radio. Like I always say there is a vast of music dropping daily and you just got to search and you will find beautiful hidden treasures.

Hip Hop is alive and well and it is definitely not going anywhere. It will continue to evolve as it gets passed on through generations. I for one am excited to continue to watch this culture and music blossom!

I can’t forget about the horror culture. If you haven’t been paying attention streaming service are catching on and embracing the horror genre more than ever! For example there are streaming services that were created to cater to that audience specifically from platforms like Shudder and ScreamBox.

Netflix has also caught onto the bandwagon. I have seen a huge spike in Netflix releasing more horror titles and even their own original series. To list a few: The Haunting of Hill House, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Diablero, Siempre Bruja and just announced Guillermo Del Toro’s Horror Anthology: 10 After Midnight! Hulu is not falling far behind they have an amazing horror anthology series, “Into the Dark” and Castle Rock. I am a happy camper! lol

As I have predicted these two genres who have their huge fan bases and cult following will continue to intermingle with each other. I mean this is nothing new. There have been several rappers who have been part of a horror movie cast or have done cameos. We have also seen rappers create the horror-core sub genre where horror elements/themed lyrics are used in rap songs. I have been saying this for awhile now that we will begin to see a trend where it will be more common for horror movies to have rap soundtracks/scores. I can also see rappers/hip hop moguls directing/writing/producing horror movies.

Artist unknown (Art is NOT mine)

Just a few weeks ago my theory was spot on. Ghostface Killah and RZA announced they are directing and writing a horror movie, “Angel of Dust”. I believe if and when this movie is released it will open new opportunities for both the hip hop and horror communities to collaborate on more projects. If this movie doesn’t do just that, I’m sure another movie will come along that will push the boundaries and cause for these two amazing genres to unite!

Even the trailer for Jordan Peele’s upcoming horror movie “Us” had me wylin when I heard ” I Got 5 on It” in a slowed up creepy tempo! I loved that Jordan did that. He might have encouraged for more classic rap songs to be used in horror movies and possibly be slowed down to create a scary atmosphere! I am confident Jordan will release another masterpiece!

I can’t wait to see what 2019 has to offer both of my favorite genres! I am looking forward to watching these two cultures to continue to blend together. Which to me is a beautiful thing and an added bonus to be able to witness this takeover! Maybe in the near future we will get a Horrorcore rap documentary or even a Hip Hop and Horror documentary! I’m just sayin!🤷🏽‍♀️

Thank you for reading my review. Hope you all enjoyed it! Until next time horror fiends and hip hop heads!
